Today's Edification (12 April 2024)

Greetings sisters who love the Lord!

I hope you are pressing on looking to the Lord who is worthy! Let us remember all His wonderful works and be thankful and bless His holy name!

Rejoice in the LORD, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.
Psalm 97:12

Let us do all things in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
Colossians 3:17

And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
John 14:13-14

And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
John 16:23-24

Everything is about Him and every knee will bow to Him one day. He is the good news to the world! There is no other gospel outside of Him.

I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:

Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

Galatians 1:6-9

The way is narrow. Those outside of Christ (the true Jesus of the Bible) in thousands of different religions or who claim no religion are so hopeless of finding their way outside of Him and His full truth. I hope they repent and it's a joyous thing to know of a few that have!

I was thinking about the depths of idolatry and how it has crept into society. We just had Easter go by. An idolatrous pagan time of year for the world. Yet many try to mix it with Jesus and say it's ok. We know He is a jealous God and will have none of that. Even the very name is most likely from a goddess...so if that isn't enough to repulse anyone I don't know what is, let alone all the practices that come from paganism in that event. People add things to God's Word and they aren't even doing what He has for a fact commanded them to do.

Sisters, today let's do a bit of discerning and testing.

Suppose you hear this statement..."A saint wanting to be with another saint is flesh.". So in our case, if a sister wanted to be with another sister...is it flesh? (and keeping in mind 'flesh' being something that is usually thought of in a negative way and something that needs to be killed, suppressed, or ashamed of etc. Like in this scripture..."For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live." Romans 8:13

So let's run it through these scriptures of some of the things that the flesh is...

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Galatians 5:19-21

Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
Romans 1:29-31

For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.
Mark 7:21-23

Can you see it in there sisters?

I was listening to 1 Thessalonians yesterday and it really hit me some things in it which should help you answer the concept we were testing above, yourself.

Here's what our beloved brother Paul and the godly saints at Thessalonica thought...

So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us.

But we, brethren, being taken from you for a short time in presence, not in heart, endeavoured the more abundantly to see your face with great desire.

Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us.

1 Thessalonians 2:8,17-18

Wherefore when we could no longer forbear, we thought it good to be left at Athens alone;

And sent Timotheus, our brother, and minister of God, and our fellowlabourer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith:

For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain.

But now when Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought us good tidings of your faith and charity, and that ye have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you:

Therefore, brethren, we were comforted over you in all our affliction and distress by your faith:

For now we live, if ye stand fast in the Lord.

For what thanks can we render to God again for you, for all the joy wherewith we joy for your sakes before our God;

Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith?

Now God himself and our Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way unto you.

1 Thessalonians 3:1-2,5-11

So judge yourselves sisters, if it's a fleshly thing or a totally godly desire to have to be fostered. I love how Paul wanted to help them in what they lacked and comfort them in their faith and was concerned whether they had been tempted away. We know love is to be a sign of His disciples.

(Of course I am not talking about worldly people who say they believe or lukewarm believers or anything like that...by saint I mean someone who loves/obeys the Lord, is in sound doctrine, and is striving on even if they have areas to work on and may fail at times as we all can and do. And Paul still said all that above even when they had things they lacked in the faith...he wanted to help them and be with them as they also wanted to see him.)

So I hope you could discern that sisters and obviously taking in the rest of 'that is written' of course! His truth always helps guide us in these perilous times amen sisters?! We don't want to go down wrong paths or believe false mindsets. Our focus is the Lord of course and we know how few saints there are and the Lord is our portion and we must stand for Him alone if necessary but God's Word is clear how we are to relate to and treat saints who are His dear children. We don't compromise to have more people around us...no, but we sure can cherish and dearly love any saints we know of! And perhaps in today's world that may be a longing to communicate and edify each other in the Lord. And Jesus said in Matthew 25 that if you did things to one of the least of His brethren you do it to Him...or not. Think about this...if no one around you speaks your language and you knew of someone who did...wouldn't that be amazing? Same it is with the Lord's people who are of His truth and doctrine! It's a rare 'language'! Very refreshing.

I find this scripture also very telling and sobering...

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

1 Corinthians 13:1-3

Many wonderful and good works without godly love being completely useless and vain. Something to ponder deeply and seriously test our lives in.

Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Matthew 7:22-23

Lack of love sure is an iniquity.

Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.
Matthew 23:24

That's quite a picture of them being overly focused on details to the neglect of weightier matters. It can happen.

Let us remember our mighty God and all His great works! How awesome we get to even have a chance at serving Him and loving Him and then getting to be with Him if we overcome. God is good to us.

O Lord GOD, thou hast begun to shew thy servant thy greatness, and thy mighty hand: for what God is there in heaven or in earth, that can do according to thy works, and according to thy might?
Deuteronomy 3:24

The works of the LORD are great, sought out of all them that have pleasure therein. His work is honourable and glorious: and his righteousness endureth for ever.
Psalm 111:2-3

O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep.
Psalm 92:5

I've had a busy day again. The time just keeps going...it's all one way isn't it. No getting back past time or if we lose some. Praise God for setting us free from much that was a waste of time let alone it being sinful. Let's keep striving to redeem the time as best we can...doing all sorts of good works as unto the Lord.

Give us day by day our daily bread.
Luke 11:3

I posted a chicken recipe here. Thankful for all He provides and we sure do not want to take it forgranted.

Well I think that's all from me today sisters. Hopefully it was edifying one way or another. That's something I'm pondering too...edifying. It's building up isn't it and not tearing down. Keep edifying sisters...however you can!

Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
1 Thessalonians 5:14

Strive on in all truth and holy ways sisters! Let us be holy as He is holy.

Godly love to you in truth,

Sister Chayil
