Today's Edification (1 February 2024)

Greetings dear sisters,

I hope you are striving on in the Lord! He is only the One who is worth living for! This life is not our best life now...although of course we are super blessed in Christ and have our inheritance to come if we endure!

I go to Psalm 73 if I ever find myself...well kind of like the psalmist was...but then he remembered the truth. Sometimes things can sting in our flesh and spirit, of things we see going on around us in what the world is doing. But we just weather the trials. Also I am reminded of Jesus here...

And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it, Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.

Luke 19:41-42

Yeah sometimes it hits you deeper what is really going on in the world with people on their way to eternal destruction even though the truth is available to all. So it's ok to have tears over it sometimes. They are so caught up in the flesh and this world and in the cares of this life.

And judgement is coming...

For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,

And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Matthew 24:38-39

Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;

But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.

Luke 17:28-29

And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

Daniel 12:2

We think of eternity...which is forever and ever and ever. Those sent away from God are suffering endlessly. This life is a serious matter and not obeying God is an incredibly serious matter. We must remember the truth about the God we serve and not make a false 'God' who fits what we would like. He is just and we sisters can rejoice in Him and the hope we have and that is avaliable to all!

And then we see brother Paul labouring hard for the gospel and to teach and work out issues with the saints. He also was one of many tears. So it's ok for us to have sorrow in that area too. It's all our reasonable service because of our faith in Christ! We still can rejoice in Him no matter what!

Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

Acts 14:22

Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.

Philippians 4:4

Let's keep our eyes on Christ sisters and not on the wind and the waves! I believe it is the hearts of love that God gives us and modelled Himself why we need to bear the sorrows. We could just be selfish and not care about anyone in the world or the body, in order to not have these trials but God is glorified and one day we know He will make all things new!

This is the day we are striving to be ready for...

And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

Revelation 21:3-5

Strive on sisters! And I'm going to help press and cheer you on until then for however long the Lord allows!

Matthew 1 reading...

Lots of names in there of Jesus' lineage.

Thinking of Rahab who was part of it (Well, I assume the same one.).

By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace.

Hebrews 11:31

As I mentioned the other day, I like to go back and read the accounts of those mentioned in the NT. You get a much better picture of who they were and what they did.

And she said unto the men, I know that the LORD hath given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you.

For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed.

And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.

Joshua 2:9-11

And Joshua saved Rahab the harlot alive, and her father's household, and all that she had; and she dwelleth in Israel even unto this day; because she hid the messengers, which Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.

Joshua 6:25

Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?

James 2:24-25

Would serve you a bowl of turmeric chicken soup if I could...

Healthy blessing to keep us going in the Lord's works.

Let us bear much good fruit sisters! And the Lord helps us bear even more fruit by pruning us!

I saw these shadows on the wall in my room and it made me think of the shadows people were walking in in the Old Covenant. Praise God to have removed the vail from us and the mystery of Christ has been revealed and we have a better covenant to walk in and keep our part of and hope of seeing Him one day in all His glory!

Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

Colossians 2:16-17

For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.

Hebrews 10:1

I love thinking about the Lord and all the good things He shows to His own. Precious they are.

But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.

Psalm 86:15

For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.

Psalm 86:5

Let us also show those good things towards others as He commanded us!

Quick evening thoughts to encourage you sisters...

(Thank you sister for the picture.) It's an awesome scripture! To die is gain for the saints! And to live is Christ! Let us labour to be accepted of Him at all times.

Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart.

Psalm 73:1

Keep walking in the Lord's pure ways, sisters!

Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

Matthew 5:8

Love in Christ,
